Beginner Spanish

Beginner sessions are for those who have never had Spanish or had it many years ago, perhaps in high school or college.

We use a "rolling enrollment" policy. This means that not all beginner classes start at the very beginning. Please be sure to check the descriptions below, especially if you only want a class that starts from the very beginning. If you have Spanish in the past or have been studying recently, you likely can join a session that has met before.

Instructors ensure that new participants are effectively integrated into classes even in all cases. We offer assessment appointments to discuss your background and Spanish knowledge and comfort level and offer suggestions about which level and class might best fit your situation.

Beginners typically participate in multiple six-week sessions before moving to intermediate Spanish and where they study verb tenses other than present tense and other more advanced topics.

We also offer Spanish for Travel classes if your objective is to learn some useful expressions to use for an upcoming trip. These classes are not designed for ongoing Spanish learning, but for specific, targeted travel topics and expressions.

Note: Evening Spanish classes are available via Zoom for those who work.

Online Classes

Online classes are taught via Zoom and can be taken anywhere that there is a stable Internet connection. Online classes were adopted because of the Covid pandemic and have been very popular, especially for seasonal Floridians.

Participating via Zoom is convenient and safe since you participate from the comfort of your home. You can join the class using an i-Pad, computer, or even a mobile phone. Online sessions also work well for those who wish to continue attending class when they leave the area for seasonal travel.

If you are not sure, try an online class before enrolling to see how you feel about learning Spanish through this delivery method. Let us know of your interest to try a session and we will provide a link that you can use from your computer, i-Pad, or other Internet-connected device.
