What are A1 A2 B1 B2 C1 C2 Spanish levels?

There are 6 Spanish levels determined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). These levels are expressed as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. The CEFR Spanish levels are widely accepted as the global standard for grading an individual’s language proficiency.

What are CEFR Spanish Levels?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR is an international standard for measuring the level of proficiency in many foreign languages, including Spanish. CEFR levels are a widely accepted standard in Spanish and other languages in the World. Many language schools in Turkey and abroad organize their education according to CEFR Spanish levels.

LEVEL A1 (BREAKTHROUGH) Beginner

The Level A1 of Spanish Language is aimed towards students who do not have any prior knowledge of the language. The aim of this level is for you to be able to interact in a simple way, ask and answer questions about yourself, the place you live, the people you know and your possessions.

Furthermore, you will be able to construct simple statements about your immediate needs or daily issues. You will be able to introduce yourself and others, ask for and give basic personal information on your residence, your belongings and persons you know.

LEVEL A2 (WAYSTAGE) Elementary

At the end of the Level A2 course, you will be able to interact in simple and common situations of daily life (in shops, at the bank, etc.). You will be able to talk in simple terms about your past, your surroundings, as well as about topics related with your immediate needs.

You will be able to understand frequently used sentences and expressions related to areas which are relevant to you (basic information on yourself and your family, shopping, interesting places, hobbies, etc.).

LEVEL B1 (THRESHOLD) Intermediate

At the end of the Level B1 course, you will be able to interact and to be understood in a great variety of situations: exposing a problem, expressing your opinion, asking for explanations, set out a complaint, talking about the past and explain future events and projects.

You will be able to understand the main ideas of clear and coherent texts about topics you are familiar with.

In the B1 level you will be able to write simple and coherent texts on issues you are familiar with or of personal interest. You will be able to describe experiences, events, wishes or ambitions, as well as explaining briefly your opinions and future plans.

LEVEL B2 (VANTAGE) Advanced

The aim of the Level B2 is that at the end of the course, you will be able to explain and defend your opinions during a debate, to expose the advantages and disadvantages of an issue, to speculate on possible situations, to converse naturally, fluently and efficiently.

The Level B2 will allow you to understand the principal ideas of a complex text which deals with both abstract and practical issues, taking into account your area of specialization. You will be able to communicate with native speakers with a sufficient grade of fluency and spontaneity.

LEVEL C1 (PROFICIENCY) Superior

At the end of the Level C1, you will have a linguistic repertoire that will allow you to have a fluent, wide and precise communication. You will be able to adapt yourself to different registers, and thus to communicate in different environments (social, professional and cultural, etc.)

Furthermore, in the Level C1, you will be able to write clear, structured and detailed texts on issues of a certain complexity, making correct use of the different mechanism of organization, articulation and cohesion of the texts.

LEVEL C2 (MASTERY) Proficiency

At the Level C2, you will be able to understand easily almost everything you read or hear. You can reconstruct the information and arguments coming from different sources, both spoken and written, and present those in a coherent and concise way. You will be able to express yourself spontaneously, with a great fluency and precision, which will allow you to identify and use subtle nuances of meanings.

NIVEL A1 (BREAKTHROUGH) Principiante

El Nivel A1 de Lengua Española está dirigido a estudiantes que no tienen ningún conocimiento previo del idioma. El objetivo de este nivel es que seas capaz de interactuar de forma sencilla, hacer y responder preguntas sobre ti mismo, el lugar donde vives, las personas que conoces y tus posesiones.​ Además, podrá construir declaraciones simples sobre sus necesidades inmediatas o problemas diarios. Podrá presentarse a sí mismo y a otras personas, solicitar y dar información personal básica sobre su residencia, sus pertenencias y las personas que conoce. 

 

NIVEL A2 (WAYSTAGE) Elemental

Al finalizar el curso de Nivel A2, serás capaz de interactuar en situaciones sencillas y comunes de la vida cotidiana (en tiendas, en el banco, etc.).​ Podrás hablar en términos sencillos sobre tu pasado, tu entorno, así como sobre temas relacionados con tus necesidades inmediatas.​ Serás capaz de comprender frases y expresiones de uso frecuente relacionadas con áreas que son relevantes para ti (información básica sobre ti y tu familia, compras, lugares interesantes, pasatiempos, etc.). 

 

NIVEL B1​ (UMBRAL) Intermedio

Al final del curso de Nivel B1, serás capaz de interactuar y ser comprendido en una gran variedad de situaciones:​ exponer un problema, expresar tu opinión, pedir explicaciones, exponer una queja, hablar del pasado y explicar eventos y proyectos futuros.​ Serás capaz de comprender las ideas principales de textos claros y coherentes sobre temas con los que estás familiarizado.​ En el nivel B1 serás capaz de redactar textos sencillos y coherentes sobre temas que conozcas o de carácter personal​al. Podrás describir experiencias, acontecimientos, deseos o ambiciones, así como explicar brevemente tus opiniones y planes de futuro. 

 

NIVEL B2​ (VANTAGE) Avanzado

El objetivo del Nivel B2 es que al final del curso, seas capaz de explicar y defender tus opiniones durante un debate, exponer las ventajas e inconvenientes de un tema, especular sobre posibles situaciones posibles, conversar con naturalidad, fluidez y eficacia.​ El Nivel B2 te permitirá comprender las ideas principales de un texto complejo que trata tanto temas abstractos como prácticos, teniendo en cuenta tu área de especialización. Serás capaz de comunicarte con hablantes nativos con un grado suficiente de fluidez y espontaneidad. 

 

NIVEL C1​ (COMPETENCIA) Superior

​Al finalizar el Nivel C1, dispondrás de un repertorio lingüístico que te permitirá tener una comunicación fluida, amplia y precisa. Serás capaz de adaptarte a diferentes registros, y así comunicarte en diferentes entornos (sociales, profesionales, culturales, etc.)​. Además, en el Nivel C1, serás capaz de redactar textos claros, estructurados y detallados sobre temas de cierta complejidad, haciendo un uso correcto de los diferentes mecanismos de organización, articulación y cohesión​ de los textos.

 

NIVEL C2​ (MAESTRÍA)​ Competencia

En el Nivel C2, serás capaz de entender fácilmente casi todo lo que leas o escuches. Puedes reconstruir la información y los argumentos provenientes de diferentes fuentes, tanto orales como escritas, y presentarlos de manera coherente y concisa. Podrás expresarte de forma espontánea, con una gran fluidez y precisión, lo que te permitirá identificar y utilizar sutiles matices de significados.
